Myfirsthomeltd. Newsletter
Editor’s Letter The housing market is now undergoing a major structural shift since the start of what has become known as the credit crunch, Having impacted dramatically on the profit sheets of the major financial institutions and within the ‘money markets’ it has now left its ugly mark on the mortgage market. Many lenders in the UK operate a business model that requires them to raise their funding via the international markets. With the funding and credit lines drying up and the price of any available funding rising dramatically, the market has effectively stalled. Consequently, we have seen considerably more caution and nervousness from lenders, a reduction in the product range available to both new and existing borrowers. Even in the mainstream arena, lenders are not prepared to offer mortgage products to a client who six, or nine months ago, they were prepared to take onto their books. The mortgage market in 2008 and into 2009 is and will continue to be a very changed arena, from the market that we have come to now in recent years. Myfirsthomeltd team hope you will enjoy this newsletter issue as much as we do, thus contributing to making home hunting easier, enjoyable and rewarding.
